In Memoriam
Silvia Agostini
A person who has always shown a special aura. Her name could be an entry in the dictionaries, as an example of the definition of words like dedication, friendship, partnership, commitment, struggling, endurance, among so many others.
As an attorney, she was registered at the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB), Paraná section, under No. 76.282. She graduated as a bachelor in Law from the Vale do Itajaí University – UNIVALI, where she began her career in law, moving to Curitiba, Paraná, after a few years working in her home town, whereby she also transferred her original OAB registration to the state of Paraná.
Her passion for Corporate Law, notably for share capital interest and partnerships, drove her to seek for a professional career that would be an opportunity to work closely in the area of her interest, with a nationwide footprint. Once in Curitiba, she invested on her technical skills in the areas she wished to perform. She completed a post-graduation course in Corporate and Civil Law at the ABDConst, and in addition to the knowledge in law, she enhanced her skills with an MBA in Finance, Auditing and Cost Controls at the FGV. Within the scope of the family wealth issues, she deepened her studies in courses at the IBGC and at the Wharton School, in the USA.
In her relentless pursuit for excellence, she achieved her professional space amidst the very competitive market of the corporate attorneys. She was part of the staff of large law firms in the state of Santa Catarina and Paraná, making her way through several positions and responsibilities, until she climbed to the post of Corporate Law Team Manager in one of these companies. Since she never settled for the status quo, she decided to invest in her career as an attorney, joining her partner to open the Berehulka & Agostini (BASDA) Office, where she was a partner-manager for almost five years. This space became her crucible of professional challenges and success, till her last days of life.
Amidst business expansion, Silvia fell ill. Even under a very rough diagnosis and prognosis, she never lost her grip at work. It was quite the contrary. She transformed her profession into her hub of achievements, honoring law in all of its dimensions, exhaling determination by solidly carrying out the office’s mission for as long as she remained in its managing group.
Sensibilized by other people with the same health conditions as herself, she provided pro-bono legal services in disputes related to obtaining good quality treatment with dignity to these patients, a legacy that is upheld to these days by the Office.
With a strong positioning, yet an amiable attitude, she acted as a leader with naturality, guiding her partners, associates and clients towards the closest safe harbor on the turbulent seas one must navigate in this profession.
After an intense battle, Silvia passed away, covered in light, on December 6, 2021. During this long journey against cancer, she was transformed and she transformed people. She evolved immensely, leaving her story behind to inspire people who were thankful for their acquaintance with Silvia and remained here, in charge of carrying her legacy forward.
